IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THOSE WHO SUBMIT PRAYER REQUESTS.
We live in a strange and wonderful time in the history of the world – it
may be more strange than it is wonderful at times. One of the great
concerns in our present culture (with the increased availability of
communication options) is that of PRIVACY. Sometimes we find
ourselves revealing “personal” information about people (ourselves,
our family member, friends, and even strangers) in the process of
sharing a prayer need. The information in such requests goes
directly to about 250 people/families (on this prayer distribution
list) and then it can be re-distributed to many, many more.
YOU can judge what YOU wish to have
shared about YOURSELF and your minor children (assuming you are the
legal guardian). However, legally, whatever YOU share about ANYONE
ELSE, without their permission, is a potential violation of THEIR
privacy. In general, the more detailed and specific the
information, the more egregious the violation of the individual’s
privacy. If a person believes that the encroachment on their
privacy has caused them harm, then legal recourse can be taken –
people have been sued for damages. Bottom line, get permission and
be careful about what details you reveal.
