1. L ead your church to adopt a formal
statement of opposition to lottery gambling.
2. F orm a steering committee committed to leading the church in defeating lottery gambling.
3. S tart a voter registration drive. Cards can be obtained from your county courthouse. Generally, only 50% of the
eligible voters in your church are registered.
4. G et out the vote educate the people on the importance of voting for anti-lottery candidates,
especially in primaries where your vote counts more. Provide transportation to the polls.
Provide child and/or elderly care to allow families the opportunity to vote.
5. C elebrate Anti-Gambling Sunday Order

6. E stablish prayer groups for the
purpose of intercession.
7. O rganize telephone committees to call people asking them to call legislators to urge them to vote against the
lottery.
8. S hare testimonies in church and other places about the evils of gambling.
9. W ork on public relations use mail-outs, publications, media outlets, signboards, radio and other
opportunities to educate people on the value of a NO vote on lottery gambling. Use
bumper stickers, letters to the editor and other opportunities to encourage the
legislature to vote NO on lottery gambling.
10. P reach sermons on gambling and speak to civic groups against gambling.
